Zaloni Dubai positioned to serve region’s growing big data management needs.
Strata and Hadoop World, London – June 1, 2016 – Zaloni, the data lake company, today announced that it is offering its data lake governance and management solutions to customers who are deploying next-generation data platforms to countries in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
The North Carolina-based company has opened a regional base of operations in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and is offering its full suite of data lake-related software and services.
“Growth of existing businesses, particularly in the Gulf region, is creating opportunity for big data companies like Zaloni, and new initiatives like Smart City and Dubai Expo 2020 are attracting significant investment,” said Ben Sharma, Zaloni’s co-founder and CEO. “Zaloni’s expansion into international markets is a critical part of our overall growth strategy.“
Zaloni’s new division is currently working with the Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (du), the second largest and fastest growing telecommunications operator in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
“After an intensive process of evaluating many other big data software providers, du selected Zaloni as our implementation partner for our big data project,” said Dirk Jungnickel, Senior Vice President, Business Analytics for Innovation at du. “This implementation will enable us to effectively use big data and advanced analytics to optimize our network service quality, improve the customer experience, and monetize our data by using it to develop new products and services.”
The company’s big data implementation will leverage Zaloni’s data management platform, Bedrock, and will enable:
- Refined location analytics, e.g., for data monetization
- Granular mobile network quality of service measurements at the subscriber level, which will help du optimize the customer experience
- Cost savings derived from enterprise data warehouse (EDW) offload to Hadoop
Ben Sharma added, “Our new Dubai office puts us within eight hours of two-thirds of the world’s population, giving us on-the-ground insight into opportunities in the region and beyond.”
Zaloni is exhibiting and presenting at Strata + Hadoop World in London this week. Ben Sharma will present “Creating a Modern Data Architecture with a Managed Data Lake” on Thursday at 12:05 pm in Capital Suite 7. He will speak again on “Risk Data Aggregation and Risk Reporting via Big Data Lakes” on Thursday at 16:35 pm in Capital Suite 10/11.
