Zaloni Data Platform Release Sets New High Bar for Hybrid, Multi-cloud Data Lake Management and Governance

June 26, 2018

Durham, NC – June 26, 2018 – Continuing to widen its market lead for enterprise-grade data lake management, Zaloni today announced the release of Zaloni Data Platform (ZDP) 5.0, which provides exciting new features to address growing real-world demands of data-rich enterprises, including data management in a hybrid or multi-cloud environment, operationalization for data management at scale, and simplification and automation of data ingestion, governance, and self-service analytics for increased user productivity.

“Some of the world’s largest, most innovative companies rely on our platform to provide enterprise-grade data lake management, governance and self-service,” said Ben Sharma, CEO of Zaloni. “Our best-practice architecture is fast becoming the industry standard, and ZDP is really the only enterprise-class solution on the market for managing hybrid and multi-cloud environments -- which is today's reality. ZDP 5.0 release reflects our aggressive push to provide critical data management features that address the real-world and often complex needs of enterprises as they modernize their data platforms.”

Support for cloud, multi-cloud and hybrid environments

As hybrid cloud and multi-cloud deployments become more common, Zaloni remains committed to providing cutting-edge data management capabilities to support these increasingly complex environments. ZDP 5.0 has expanded its native capabilities to support AWS EMR (S3 buckets function as a managed data lake zone, support for accessing and transforming data in S3 using workflow actions in a secured manner), Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS) and integration between these environments.

Streamlined data operations

Delivering industry-leading data operations is already core to ZDP. In this release, Zaloni expands this capability by integrating the concept of a zone-based architecture across the entire platform to provide more control and consistency around data governance. Zones allow administrators to automate where data resides, for how long, and what data governance, lifecycle and data quality policies are required for data to enter and exit each zone.

Zone Administration: A listing of pre-defined zones that are available in the ZDP application. Custom zones can be added for further entities categorization and management

In addition, the new release provides a host of operational improvements for bulk scheduling, file system operations, and data connectivity to make managing and changing workflows at scale significantly more efficient.

Increased productivity and collaboration

As data lakes grow in size and scale, finding relevant data and related artifacts can become a tedious and sometimes impossible task. ZDP 5.0 delivers an expanded data catalog that enables a global search and filtering capability that makes finding relevant, high-quality and secure data simple for any data producer or consumer. In addition to finding data assets, data producers can search across data lake zones and projects for related workflows, data quality rules, transformations and other related content that will help them do their jobs more efficiently.

Global Search: ZDP Global Search enables data discovery across projects, entities of various types, workflows, data quality rules, and other artifacts.

Further, ingesting data into the data lake can often be a complex process that requires multiple tools and technologies. ZDP 5.0 simplifies and speeds up this process considerably by providing self-service ingestion wizards and templates. These help drive consistency for end users and automate many of the post-ingestion tasks required to make newly ingested data available to data consumers as a trusted asset.

Ingest Wizard: File and Database Ingest Wizard simplifies ingestion processes, generates and executes the necessary ingestion steps and post-ingestion workflows.

Future-proof your data architecture

Digital transformation for competitive advantage hinges on an enterprise’s ability to modernize its data architecture, operationalize workflows, and enable robust data governance and self-service data analytics. Whether a company wants to implement a new data lake or clean up a hybrid or multi-cloud data swamp, ZDP 5.0 provides exciting new features for a comprehensive, right-fit solution to help enterprises deliver a truly agile and operationalized data platform.
